Care & Use

Before Using
Wash and dry inserts 2-3 times on hot prior to first use. This will cause the fibers to shrink, fluff up and become more absorbent. The inserts will continue to get thicker and more absorbent with additional washes. Shrinkage was taken into account when designing the inserts.

Washing
Keep wet and dirty diapers in a diaper pail. Deposit solids in toilet. If you've stuffed the inserts inside the diaper, shake out the insert into your pail and throw the diaper in after changing your baby.

Because natural, organic and 100% cotton fibers tend to wear slightly more than conventional or synthetic fibers, a little extra care can extend the life of the diaper.

- Rinse diapers in cool pre wash or short rinse

- Long hot wash in hot or warm water with residue free detergent.
* Use half the recommended amount of detergent. If diapers come out smelling dirty, re-wash with more detergent. If diapers come out smelling soapy, re-rinse and cut back on detergent. Too much or too little detergent may cause your inserts to possibly stink, or leave baby with a rash.

- 2nd rinse will make sure your diapers are rinsed clean. Any residue from poop, urine, or detergent can make your diapers smell.

- Tumble dry low or medium or line dry.

Important
Do not use fabric softener. It will coat the fibers, making them water repellent and reduce the absorbency of the inserts. Be aware that if you use dryer sheets in your dryer for other laundry this can coat your dryer and transfer to your diapers & inserts.

Do not use bleach. This will cause the fabric's fibers to break down. Do not use baking soda or vinegar in your wash. These are unnecessary.

Stain removal
As long as diapers smell clean, they are clean. However, If staining is bothersome, it is important that any products used on the diapers and covers to remove the stains are mild so as not to irritate the baby’s skin and/or cause the diapers to prematurely deteriorate. In most cases, laying the damp, stained diapers out in the sun is the safest and most effective way of removing stains.
